My Journal with Dry Eyes!

How my dry eye started

My condition started when I was a young adult and now I’m in my senior years! My eyes have been dry for years and it prevented me from using hard lens and soft lenses... I’ve always used eyes drops because my eyes felt like I hand sand in them and hurt all the time. I didn't realize it was a dry eye condition until a few years back and then now I have been diagnosed with it.

How it progressed and what I did

I don’t remember it ever being this bad but I do remember needing drops constantly to make my eyes feel good. I just received the diagnosis since I had cataract surgery on both my eyes. I’m sure it is the right diagnosis but I’m using Restasis as treatment now. My doctor has been very helpful and I’ve tried several different eye drops until now. I’m still using Restasis to see if it’s going to help make moisture!

The hardest part

The hardest point I my dry eye story is having a film over my eyes most all the time… it keeps me from enjoying my life and enjoying many activities. If I had known this was going to be what I have to live with I’d never had cataract surgery!

Turning a corner

I’ve been on Restasis for about 3 months now and can tell you I don’t see much of a change in the needed moisture in my eyes. I guess a person does need to have patience to keep going and maybe the results will be favorable!

Where I'm at now

I’m here to say if you have dry eyes and need cataract surgery, talk with your doctor first before proceeding... there’s got to be something to help!
